Some thoughts about your images
Depending on your monitor settings, the images that appear on your monitor may well differ from the printed copy. Your screen generates light and a print only reflects it, so differences in colour between the print and your monitor are very likely and I assume you are aware of this when you purchase a print. Prints are printed on Fujicolor Crystal Archive paper using a Lightjet printer at a professional photo lab. The Lightjet prints on photographic paper using three coloured laser beams and offers the highest quality photographic prints that I am aware of. More specialised printing is done on an Epson R2400 with continuous ink system and professionally created ICC profiles for each type of paper.
Picture quality (see also next section)
Lightjets print photographs down to silly DPI without a noticeable loss in quality. But I hesitate to recommend print sizes over A3 size. You are more than welcome to purchase larger prints should you desire, but picture quality will be less than that of a smaller size print. These large prints should be viewed from some distance away, rather than up close.
When I receive your order, I recalibrate my monitors for the time of day and ambient light conditions, get the file, check it for any problems or artifacts at the size you've chosen and then send it to the lab via the internet. It takes them anything from a couple of days to a week, depending on how busy they are, the complexity of the image and where the weekend falls in the process. When I receive it back from them, I check the print, repackage it and send it to you. Please keep this in mind if you want to order a print as a gift.
PICTURE QUALITY AND RESOLUTION
The imagery on this website is low resolution, this is to allow these pages to load on your computer as quickly as possible. The prints and CD/DVD quality imagery that are available to purchase are far higher in resolution than the images you can see on this web site.
