The term Horse Whisperer at least in modern times goes back to the early 1800s when an Irish horseman called Danny Sullivan gained fame in England for the "Lessinging of vexation and improving in nature of horses that were otherwise aggressive and intractable.
The first horse whisperer was believed to be Xenophon c360BC because of his detailed writings on the selection, care and training of a horse using non abusive methods.
However the term "Horse Mumbler" is a humourous reference to a horse whisperer, who ability is exceeded by their enthusiasm.
